Why doesn't my contractor website show up on Google?
Common reasons a contractor website is hard to find on Google, and what to check first, in plain words.
Context: Jobber's 2026 report says 65% of home service businesses don't show business hours on their website, and 43% don't clearly list service areas. Source: Jobber 2026 Home Service Trends Report.
It may be new
New pages can take time to be found. Submitting your sitemap in Google Search Console can help Google find it.
It may be blocked
A robots.txt setting or a "noindex" tag left on from building the site can tell Google to stay away.
The page doesn't say what you do and where
If your title and headings don't mention your trade and town, Google has less to go on.
Your Google Business Profile isn't linked
Link your profile to your site, and keep the name, phone, and address the same on both.
Nobody can promise rankings
Anyone promising a spot on page one is guessing. Fix the basics and keep your details accurate.
If you run Google Local Services Ads
Google uses the hours in your Google Business Profile as your "business hours" for Local Services Ads, so keep them accurate and matching your website. Source: Google Local Services Help.
